Proterra Light i25 wheels feature an open-cavity profile to minimize weight and maximize efficiency as you get lost out where the pavement ends. Like all other Proterra wheels, the responsive 6-pawl freehub offers 5 degrees of reliable engagement whether you're crushing a gravel ride or have your frame bag bursting at the seams for an overnight adventure.

Frequency Hub

Frequency hubs feature a low-drag, 6-pawl design that alternates contact between two sets of 3-pawl groupings to provide a responsive 5 degrees of freehub engagement.

Solid Strip & TCS Tape

Durable nylon strip that lies between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tubeless tape from pushing into the spoke holes and ensures a smooth interface between the tire and rim. The smooth surface makes it easier to mount a tire by preventing air from escaping around the bead at each indent during inflation. Solid Strip also protects the airtight system from puncture in the case of a broken spoke.

3-Cross Lacing and Alloy Nipples

Need confidence your gravel wheels will offer a lightweight advantage but still last through seasons of riding? Proterra Light i25 wheels provide the longterm reliability of a 3-cross lacing pattern with the weight savings of alloy nipples.

25mm inner rim width

Proterra rims with a 25 inner rim width are best suited for gravel bikes with 41-50mm tires. Choosing the correct inner rim width for the tires you ride will optimize the air volume and tire profile of your specific tire and rim combo.

Hand-Built in California

Proterra wheels are hand-built in our California wheel building facility at the base of Mount Tamalpais, where mountain biking began. Technology

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is our industry-leading tubeless rim/tire system designed to international ETRTO and ISO standards.

6069 is the perfect aluminum alloy for bicycle rims due to its high tensile and fatigue strength, minimal weight, and excellent anti-corrosion properties.

Spoke holes are drilled at an angle to match the natural spoke path between a rim and hub. Eliminates binding and lateral loading of the nipples to increase wheel durability.

Rim ends are hydraulically pressed over an extruded aluminum insert that matches the inner cavity of the rim and is further reinforced by industrial epoxy.

Installed between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tape from sagging at each spoke hole and make tire inflation easier while also preventing puncture from a broken spoke.

Sloped rim valley allows the bead of the tire to easily and smoothly move into place during installation and inflation.

Internationally standardized to ensure rim and tire compatibility are as consistent and user-friendly as possible for both WTB’s products and those of our competitors.

Freehub ratchet system quickly alternates between two groups of three pawls each to provide quick engagement and trusted durability.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES RIM WIDTH AFFECT TIRE VOLUME AND PROFILE?

Wider rims will cause a tire to also have a wider width, with more air volume within the tire and a flatter tire tread profile than designed for. As a general rule of thumb, a 2mm increase or decrease of inner rim width will result in a tire section width increase or decrease of 1mm. For example, our Nano 40 tire has a tire section width of 40mm on a 21mm inner rim width, however it will have a tire section width of 41mm on a 23mm inner rim width.

WHAT WIDTH TCS TUBELESS TAPE FOR MY WHEELS?

All WTB wheels are sold with TCS Tubeless Tape preinstalled. If you need to replace it at any time, WTB recommends using tape that is 5mm wider than your inner rim width. For example, an i30 rim would require 35mm TCS Tubeless Tape.

WHICH LENGTH OF TCS TUBELESS VALVE FOR MY PROTERRA WHEELS?
