Minimal, fast-rolling tread wraps over a wide casing to increase traction and confidence without added knob weight. Minimal tread overhang also reduces weight while a round tire profile provides smooth cornering on hardpack surfaces.

The true 2.4” tire measures 62mm ( on an i30 rim) and weighs a scant 732g (120tpi black with SG protection). Cross-country racers want a Goldilocks mix of characteristics in their gear: speed without sketchiness, suppleness without delicacy, and tank-like grip without tank-like weight. For tires, it’s often been a matter of sacrificing one characteristic for another. Not anymore. The new WTB Macro 2.4” tire shatters that trend. It rolls fast, digs into the turns with precision, and deflects even the sharpest rocks thanks to its SG puncture protection.

Puncture Protection Galore

Part of the secret sauce is WTB’s SG puncture protection, made of a rubberized nylon fabric that protects the sidewalls without compromising suppleness. The use of flat fibers in the SG barrier reduces weight compared to traditional round fibers and allows WTB to tune the ride characteristics even further.

Short, Efficient Knobs

Macro’s centerline is made up of small, tightly spaced knobs that pack a punch, delivering unmatched speed and braking traction. When you lean into a turn, the wider spacing and raised outer knobs provide steadfast grip when you need it most. Pair this dynamic tread with a wide, rounded profile and the ability to run lower air pressures, and you get an incredibly capable tire that delivers a perfectly smooth transition as you pitch in and rail through turns.

TCS Tubeless Ready

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is WTB's standardized tubeless system. These tires feature a TCS tubeless ready casing, which nearly eliminates flats and allows lower tire pressures to improve traction and comfort over a traditional tube-type tire.

TriTec Compound

TriTec blends three distinct rubber compounds to provide different levels of traction, support and durability based on their placement within the tread. High durometer rubber provides a foundation for the entire tread pattern and even extends slightly into the base of each knob to provide additional support below the softer compounds used in the remainder of each knob. Center knobs feature a medium durometer compound to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, while outer knobs feature the softest compound for maximum grip and slow rebound characteristics.

TCS Light Casing

TCS Light tires feature one layer of casing to minimize rotational weight while simultaneously increasing the overall liveliness of a tire. Using a single layer of casing results in a gram-conscious tire that better conforms to the trail and increases traction without the need for excessive knob heights that would reduce efficiency. Many of our TCS Light mountain tires feature Slash Guard technology, which provides a protective nylon insert spanning the entire sidewall to provide extra puncture protection without the weight of a dual ply casing.

ZERO Plastic Packaging

All new WTB tires are packaged using 100% recycled materials and zero plastic. Our engineers and marketing team are constantly working towards reducing the amount of packaging our products requiring, while still providing you with the necessary information to make an informed purchasing decision. It's no small task, but minimizing the total amount of packaging has become an integral part of product development.

This results in simplistic packaging using more recycled materials and less zip ties. In the next few years, we're working to ensure 100% of WTB packaging goes in the recycling bins.
