Product description

The Vigilante SG1 is a cult favorite among mountain bikers and EMTBs. Square-lugged knobs still deliver unwavering traction, yet with added height to ensure they dig even deeper into loose, unpredictable terrain. Increased circumferential spacing allows the tread to remain clear in sticky conditions as hefty outer knobs protect the sidewall while you send it down the chunkiest rock gardens. SG1 puncture protection runs under the tread cap and has extended bead protection.

Aggressive Tread Design

Square-lugged knobs deliver unwavering traction in a wide range of conditions and truly excel in loose, rocky terrain. Substantial spacing between those knobs allows the tread to clear in sloppy conditions, while still protecting the casing from spiteful rocks.

Enclosed Siping

Prevents knob flex and increases cornering support while also extending tread life. Enclosed siping provides the extra grip you want on rocks or roots without sacrificing on durability.

Reinforced Side Knobs

Tall side knobs are supported by an elevated base that prevents the knobs from folding under shamelessly forceful cornering forces. The siping arrangement has also been updated to increase cornering performance, while the tall height of the knobs don't hesistate to dig in under heavy braking.

Front-Focused Design

Everything about the Vigilante was designed to improve cornering traction as a front tire. Aggressive outer knobs punch into corners while directional siping grapples with rocks and roots in both wet and dry conditions. We suggest pairing the Vigilante 2.5/2.6/2.8 with a Trail Boss 2.4/2.6 on the rear.

TCS Tubeless-Ready

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is WTB's standardized tubeless system. These tires feature a TCS tubeless-ready casing, which nearly eliminates flats and allows lower tire pressures to improve traction and comfort over a traditional tube-type tire.

Technology

TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is our industry-leading tubeless rim/tire system designed to international ETRTO and ISO standards.

Three compounds provide optimal levels of traction, support and durability. Different durometers of base rubber, center knobs and soft knobs allow us to fine-tune performance and increase rider confidence.

Two full layers of casing wrap the tire from bead to bead and provide the ultimate level of puncture protection and sidewall support.

Soft yet supportive knobs conform to the trail and rebound slowly to provide maximum traction on loose, rocky terrain regardless of wet or dry conditions.

Added under tread puncture protection runs beneath the entire tread cap making the tire more resilient against sharp objects lurking in the dirt. However, the fortification does not stop there. With a clear goal of strengthening the most vulnerable areas of a tire, WTB has introduced their new IP+ technology, tripling the height of it’s apex bead protection for SG1. This enhancement not only shields the tire bead from damage, but also significantly bolsters the sidewall structure.

E50 e-bike tires are constructed using additional materials to not only strengthen the tire and prevent punctures, but also to increase support under heavy loads.

SG1 Protection

SG1 puncture protection runs beneath the entire tread cap making the tire more resilient against sharp objects lurking in the dirt. But the fortification does not stop there. Updated Compounds

After years of development and numerous revisions, WTB has also updated High Grip compounds to not only increase tread longevity, but also improve grip at the same time. Especially in wet conditions. Blue is harder compound and Green is softer compound.

What is Tritec?

TriTec blends three distinct rubber compounds to provide different levels of traction, support and durability based on their placement within the tread. High durometer rubber provides a foundation for the entire tread pattern and even extends slightly into the base of each knob to provide additional support below the softer compounds used in the remainder of each knob. Center knobs feature a medium durometer compound to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, while outer knobs feature the softest compound for maximum grip and slow rebound characteristics.

TCS Tough Casing

Two full layers of casing span bead-to-bead to ensure every surface of the tire is more resistance to punctures. Using two layers of casing also provides additional sidewall support while cornering and allows riders to experience increased traction by running lower pressures than would be possible with thinner, single-ply casings. TCS Tough tires are the sure bet for aggressive trail, enduro, gravity and e-bike riders who want ultimate peace of mind out on the trail. Some riders may choose to run a TCS Tough tire on the rear while opting for the weight-saving benefits of a single-ply TCS Light tire on the front.
