Riddler 29"

Running this tire on the rear of a Santa Cruz Tallboy with a Trail Boss up front.
Ride on mostly hardpack single track with lots of roots and some rocks.
For me this combo of tires work really well, couldn't be happier.
I'm running the tire on a 29rim with 25mm internal rim width at 27psi. (I weight 220lb with riding gear on)

anyhow fast tire and it seems to be wearing well.

Been riding this tire tire through the mtns of NC for 2 years on these tires. I have had two blowouts this year on this tire in the same place. Right on the seam between the tread and the brown sidewall. With that in mind, I'm moving on to a different manufacturer.

I LOVE these tires. They are perfect for traction, speed weight, everything... they corner at high speed liked on rails, they accelerate up hills, they have never slipped out on a climb.

CON: They get a nasty hole on every long ride. To be honest, I am a CX extreme rider. When the tire has failed me, it has been on 40 to 70 mile epic rides, in very nasty conditions. Mostly on trails you would only consider for mountain bikes.

Mounted as a tubeless with Subzero orange, most of the holes have sealed properly. However a recent side-wall slice just had me retire this tire to tube-only now. The casting is thin but the tread design is awesome.. it is perfect, but vulnerable. The tire sat nice and square to the ground just as I like it when mounted on my WTB i27's. But the tire is not reliable in extended and severe use conditions. I got stuck at the end of a 72 mile ride for a sidewall slice that should not have happened in the conditions I was in. I am currently trying a maxis silk lined tire to see how long they last for me... It would seem a silk lining maybe a good solution for the Riddler?

This tyre is rapid! On the rear, the rolling speed is noticeable, but braking traction is surprisingly good. The cornering traction is also good, but my only (minor) criticism is that the shoulder knobbles could be stronger as they can start to squirm when pushed hard. As semi-slicks go, this is hard to beat!

Paired with a burlier tread on the front (I use a Minion DHF), the Riddler is an excellent rear tire. Set up this way, it will hook up on the shoulder knobs, but release before the front tire.

Traction is way better than a semi-slick ought to have except on dusty rocks, and rolling resistance is low. 5 stars for a double casing racy tire!!

BTW, I've used these for everything from XC racing to Enduros in the Rockies, on everything but gloppy mud.

Since it is a semi-slick, performance will deteriorate fast once the tread has worn, but that's to be expected (and the "fast rolling" compound holds up surprisingly well).
