"Gritfest is open to all off-road bikes. Featuring 2 days of incredible riding around the Cambrian Mountains within Mid Wales. It includes timed special stages on gravel and over a mixture of terrain"
When event organiser Matt Page approached us to become the official tyre sponsor for the young and exciting event it certainly made sense. With events like Battle on the Beach and Cross Mountain regularly attracting hundreds of entrants, Matt is well know for putting on a great show and giving people what they want. A family friendly weekend of camping, live music, great food, and a side of bike racing. Nikki Whiles and I decided to get involved and see what's it all about...

Gritfest is based out of the rural village of Cilycwm, Llandovery. Already known for popular tourist attractions such as Cwm Rhaeadr MTB trails, and Llyn Brianne, you can be certain the route will take in some spectacular views.
Two days of racing included 6 timed 'special stages' varying from 4km up to 19km with plenty of climbing to boot. The relaxed transitions in-between the stages were a great way to compose yourself, rehydrate, and get plenty of snaps along the way.
well stocked feed stations with plenty of vegan and sweet options to keep legs turning and spirits high
This type of racing really does appeal to all kinds of cyclist. There were cross country racers, cyclocross specialists, MTB enduro racers, roadies, all round adventurers, and even an olympic athlete! (yeah, he got first place).
Nikki and I both went for 700c gravel bikes. I rode the awesome new Venture 40 tyres front and rear, and Nikki rode a Resolute 42 up front, with a Riddler 37 on the rear.
We both thoroughly enjoy the whole weekend. The riding was fantastic, the festival atmosphere was spot on, the weather was perfect, and what's better than spending a weekend having great banter with a good friend!? Roll on Gritfest 2020, we'll be back!
