If you’ve sat comfortably on a WTB saddle or felt confident gripping your bars lately, chances are you’ve got Sean Madsen to thank. As our Senior Product Developer, Sean has played a huge role in shaping (literally) the riding experience for thousands of cyclists. With over three years at WTB, he’s been the driving force behind our latest lineup of saddles and grips—gear designed to solve real rider issues, not just win design awards.

🧠 From Biomechanics to Better Bike Rides

Sean’s background in biomechanics gives him a unique lens when it comes to product development. “My favorite part of the job,” he says, “is using that expertise to create solutions that address riders’ pain points. It’s incredibly satisfying to design something that improves someone’s experience on the bike.”

Whether it’s refining saddle shapes to support optimal pedaling or dialing in grips for comfort and control, Sean is focused on performance through purpose. And it’s paying off—WTB’s newest saddles, including Sean’s personal favorite, the Solano, are receiving high praise for their blend of support, comfort, and get-out-of-the-way-when-you-need-it design.

🔮 What’s Next? More Butts on Bikes.

When it comes to the future, Sean isn’t just thinking about tech—he’s thinking about people. “The most exciting thing to me is getting more people to experience the joy of riding. Whether it’s a 5th-grade group ride, someone hopping on an e-bike for the first time, or making commuting more accessible—helping folks tap into that childhood thrill of freedom on two wheels is what it’s all about.”

At WTB, that mission is woven into the product strategy. From a broad range of saddle shapes to tires that match every trail type, Sean and the team are working to break down barriers that keep people from enjoying the ride.

🏕️ Outside the Office

When Sean’s not in the workshop or on the trail testing prototypes, you’ll find him rallying his Evil Wreckoning over anything in its path. “It’s a monster truck of a bike,” he laughs, “but still nimble with plenty of pop.”

His go-to trail snack? Gummy Bears. His trail companion? Teo, his adventure-loving pup who’s always down to tag along.

🤘 Why WTB?

For Sean, WTB isn’t just a job—it’s a crew. “We’re a small, close-knit group of riders who genuinely love what we do. That energy fuels everything—from product development to post-ride beers.”

So next time you ride in comfort or drop into a trail with confidence, think of Sean and the hands-on crew making it all happen—one product, one rider at a time.
